Practitioner (RMP)

The goal of the Risk Management Practitioner (RMP) Certificate Program is to create a series of training classes, designed to impart the knowledge of professional risk managers and ensure they can apply that knowledge within their agencies and in their profession.

This program was built by a broad coalition of industry leaders and subject matter experts to reflect practical application, filling a gap in the industry by providing learner-centered, interactive, and thought provoking training. Learning happens with a group of peers in which the facilitator draws out and expands upon the knowledge of the participants, making this program like no other risk management training.

Individuals with the RMP training certification have demonstrated their knowledge and understanding of:

• The foundations of risk management
• Overview of basic laws and principles
• How to administer insurance and self-insurance programs
• How to identify and evaluate your agency's particular loss exposures
• Implementing sound loss control measures
• Managing first-party property and third-party liability claims
• The purpose, history, and legal framework of Workers' Compensation
• How to effectively administer standard workers' compensation and employer's liability policies
• The relevant state and federal legal frameworks and the intersection between medical limitations and workplace disabilities
• The benefits of maintaining an effective Early Return-to-Work (ERTW) program
• Lessons learned from failed systems and practices and major risk events
