Effective July 1, 2020, a fee of $70 is required to be paid prior to taking each State certification exam. The examination fee is non-refundable.

Exam fees must be received by the payment deadline and are to be made payable by check or money order payable to CDPH - CLPPB. We recommend the use of a money order for faster processing time.

Please include the following information on the memo line of the check or money order.

1.      Full name

2.      Exam classification (I/A, PM, or Sup)

3.      Last 4 digits of your driver’s license number

Step 2. Please mail checks to:

Once payment is received you will receive an email from CPS HR Consulting confirming receipt of payment. You will receive a notice confirming your eligibility to take the examination with exam scheduling instructions approximately two weeks before the scheduled exam window; this notice will be emailed to the address indicated on your online account.

Step 3. Scheduling your exam appointment with ProctorU

Candidates eligible to take the examination will receive a separate, personalized email invitation from ProctorU. The invitation will
include a unique link that candidates must use to schedule their exam. Please do not contact ProctorU until you have received
your scheduling invitation from CPS HR.

Appointments are available on a first come first served basis. Please schedule your exam appointment as soon as possible to
ensure you are able to test. An appointment must be scheduled at least 72 hours in advance of your desired test date.

What to Expect

  • You must present a current, valid government-issued photo ID to be admitted into the online exam session. Only a state driver’s license or identification card, passport, civil service ID, or military identification card will be accepted.
    • You may take the test from a location of your choice during the time you schedule. You are required to test in a quiet, distraction-free area. No other individuals are allowed in the testing room with you during the online exam.
    • A reliable computer with a high-speed internet connection, a microphone, a webcam (internal or external), and a Windows or Apple Operating System. ProctorU recommends that you visit https://www.proctoru.com/live-plus-resource-center prior to your scheduled test date to review system requirements and familiarize yourself with the process. You may test your equipment at https://test-it-out.proctoru.com/. For additional technical services needed before your exam, you can access     additional help topics at https://support.proctoru.com/hc/en-us.
  • You are not allowed to access notes or personal items including, but not limited to purses, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, study materials, beepers, pagers, portable telephones, calculators, etc. Verification will be conducted via webcam to ensure that your testing space is free of prohibited items.
  • An erasable hand-held whiteboard and erasable marker can be used as scratch paper during the exam. After completing your exam, the proctor will verify that you have completed erased the whiteboard. Absolutely no scratch paper will be permitted.
  • Special Accommodation Testing is available for applicants who have an ADA disability or are unable to take the regularly scheduled examination due to religious affiliations. You must include documentation signed by your clergy or doctor on their official letterhead specifically identifying the accommodation required.
