The County of Monterey is seeking a Deputy Director, Social Services - Administrative Services. Under general direction, the Deputy Director plans, implements, coordinates, and directs the program and/or services of one or more major branches of the Social Services department; supervises staff in providing program and/or administrative services; and does other work as required. The Deputy Director is responsible for the direction and supervision through a management team that includes second level managers (e.g Program Managers, Financial Managers, Administrative Managers) of one or more major branches within the Department of Social Services. Incumbents develop, recommend, and implement services, policies, procedures, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will bring strong managerial and administrative experience which includes a background in budget development as well as excellent supervisory and leadership abilities. A solid customer service ethic with an eye toward continuous process improvement along with experience interpreting and implementing complex regulations is expected. The successful candidate will be an exceptional communicator both in verbal and written communication.
