City of Flagstaff is seeking a Water Services Director. The Water Services Director is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Water Services division which includes the production of quality water, determining rate structures, managing financial assets, responding to emergency situations such as water line breaks, flooding, or equipment failure, managing risks, ensuring safe operations of plants, compliance with regulations, overseeing water conservation, and keeping up with water system security and technological advances. This position is also an integral part of developing water resources for the community by working with internal and external legal counsel, negotiating with indigenous neighbors, preparing short- and long-term plans, determining water usage and communicating with regulatory agencies such as Arizona Department of Water Resources and ADEQ. The ideal candidate will have significant experience and a proven track record in water service. Candidates who have experience in a jurisdiction of similar makeup and complexities will be favorably considered.
