The Orange County Power Authority (OCPA) is seeking a Director of Power Resources. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Power Resources Director serves as a high-level technical advisor on resource projects or contracts and/or manages the most complex short and long-term energy resources planning and procurement activities for the authority. The Director oversees scheduling and settlement with the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) and provides advanced-level technical guidance to subordinate staff and contractors. This position will collaborate extensively with the Authority’s Portfolio Manager and Scheduling Coordinator and requires extensive and in-depth knowledge of energy trading and scheduling along with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will understand the needs of OCPA while managing the energy portfolio and ensuring its advancement. The Director of Power Resources must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, managing relationships with contractors, utilities commission, trading organizations, and more. The ideal candidate will utilize their extensive experience in energy procurement and California regulations to help propel OCPA towards its goals. Public speaking skills will be an asset in this role as the Director regularly presents to the Board on OCPA’s portfolio and related topics.
