The Pueblo West Metropolitan District is seeking a District Manager, who will serve as the chief executive officer for the district with responsibility for the administration and operations of all departments under the jurisdiction and authority of the Board. The District Manager serves as the public face of the organization and is responsible for providing leadership and strategic oversight including developing and implementing a strategic direction and plan for Pueblo West. With the support of the board of directors, this role has the opportunity to embrace the community and partner with local government entities while serving as the district’s liaison at executive-level functions and meetings with external organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of progressively responsible and complex experience in management (government, business, or military included), at least two (2) of which were in supervisory positions, and at least one (1) of which is at the C-level executive level.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Colorado driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle record within 30 days of hire.
  • As a Board of Directors designated key appointed official, the District Manager is required to have a presence on a regular and continuous basis from the principle offices of the District since it is considered essential to the efficient and effective functioning of the District, both in ordinary course and in the event of emergencies, which requires Pueblo West residency within, or proximity to in the distance set of 50 miles from the principle offices, within 180 days of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, or closely related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the unique water rights affecting the Arkansas River from the headwaters to the Kansas State line; including trans-basin water.

Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify as determined by the Board of Directors. Work is subject to frequent and recurring interruptions and deadlines. Some out-of-town travel may be required to attend meetings, conferences, seminars, etc. Role will require attendance at meetings and functions beyond regular work hours specifically to participate in town hall and public meetings to get to know the residents/taxpayers.
