San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) is seeking a Director of Engineering and Construction. The Director plays a pivotal role in overseeing and providing leadership and management for the design, engineering, and construction of capital projects of varying sizes and complexity. This position involves directing, planning, and coordinating the development and implementation of departmental goals and policies, ensuring alignment with SANDAG priorities and appropriate funding and resource allocation. The Director is responsible for selecting and leading a diverse team, overseeing budgetary aspects, and representing the Engineering and Construction department to various Federal, State, regional, business, citizen, and internal stakeholders. With a focus on efficiency and effectiveness, the role involves continuous monitoring and evaluation of program/project delivery methods, fostering collaborative relationships with internal and external partners, and providing strategic leadership for modern capital project delivery methods. The Director also analyzes the impact of legislation, supports regional planning initiatives, and participates in committees and task forces, staying abreast of trends in transportation and transit engineering.
