Lubbock County seeks an experienced and visionary Director of Public Works to lead critical infrastructure planning and development. Reporting directly to the Commissioners Court, this role oversees transportation and drainage improvements, subdivision and permit review, and long-range planning to support the County’s growth. The Director will manage budgets, guide a five-year transportation plan, and collaborate with local, state, and federal partners—including TxDOT—on road, bridge, and drainage projects. This leader will also serve as a trusted advisor to Commissioners, a liaison with community stakeholders, and a problem-solver during emergencies and weather events.
The ideal candidate is a Texas-licensed Professional Engineer with at least 7–10 years of progressive management or project leadership experience in civil engineering, public works, or infrastructure development. Strong communication, strategic planning, and team leadership skills are essential.
