Assessment Centers are innovative platforms designed to evaluate the skills, competencies, and potential of candidates through a variety of structured activities and exercises. An assessment center is a standardized selection process for evaluating behavior through a series of exercises that simulate real-life job tasks or situations. Assessment centers are most commonly used for public safety promotional testing, but may also be used for managerial/supervisory testing and development. They are used to evaluate the skills, competencies, and potential of candidates through a variety of structured activities and exercises. Role-plays, in-basket exercises, writing exercises, presentations, interviews, tactical exercises, and more are used to determine the strengths and weaknesses of applicants. These simulations provide insights into how potential candidates might handle high pressure situations, how they deal with ambiguity, and other needed aptitudes. All of this means that employers will rest assured that their potential future employees will be well qualified for the roles they will fill, and that they can perform at a high level.
