The City of San Bernardino is seeking a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer (DEIO) is responsible for providing strategic leadership in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for the City to achieve inclusive employment, equitable utilization and development of staff, high morale and productivity, and effective and inclusive communication between management and employees. The incumbent is also responsible for complex professional level work with the creation, development, performance, and measurement of DEI programs and activities in the organization.
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished DEI professional who has a proven work history that demonstrates that the incumbent can apply specialized DEI skill and knowledge in an innovative, flexible, and collaborative manner. As a problem solver with deft communication, the successful candidate will have the necessary skill to develop and deliver education and training programs on diversity and inclusion, implicit bias, sensitivity and cultural awareness. The successful candidate will be solutions-oriented, establish metrics and conduct periodic reviews to measure the success of diversity and inclusion programs and activities. A background in employment investigations, conflict resolution and team building are key. Experience with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) regulations and the relevance of applicable case law to inform DEI practices and assist with corresponding training is a must.
