LACSD is accepting applications for their Public Information Officer position. The ideal candidate must embody qualities of approachability, fairness, and integrity. The Public Information Officer must have the ability to prioritize critical issues, execute initiatives efficiently, and possess a comprehensive understanding of current media trends. Valued attributes include trustworthiness, transparency, and decisiveness. The preferred candidate will be a proficient problem solver with exceptional communication skills, demonstrating an appropriate level of authority as dictated by the situation. A successful candidate will maintain a composed and steady demeanor, possess expertise in crisis management, and exhibit sensitivity to diverse audiences while delivering detailed information using precise language.

The incumbent should be adept at presenting complex information, and responding promptly and comprehensively to information requests. Comfort and proficiency in developing, coordinating, and participating in news conferences,media campaigns, special events, and other programs hosted by the Sanitation Districts are essential. Familiarity with media tactics, basic interview techniques, terminology, and regulations of sanitation districts, along with expertise indeveloping engaging content for social media platforms and other public outreach mediums, are highly desirable. Also, a solid understanding of the general principles and techniques of environmental engineering or environmental science is preferred.

The Public Information Officer should be a creative and strategic thinker capable of reimagining the communications organization, platforms, and delivery mechanisms of the Sanitation Districts. The Public Information Officer is expected to be a highly organized project manager, integrating each marketing campaign into a cohesive strategy proactively. While knowledge of sanitation district policies and operations is desirable, it is not a mandatory requirement.
