The City of Oklahoma City is seeking a Utilities Assistant Director. The City of Oklahoma City is the 20th largest city in the nation and serves approximately 694,800 residents in a four (4) county, 621 square mile area.  Twenty-two (22) City departments provide a wide array of municipal services and programs. Additionally, municipal trusts play a significant role in the operations of major facilities and services.  One of the trusts, the Oklahoma City Water Utilities Trust (OCWUT), was created to lease, operate, maintain, improve, and finance the utility systems.  

The Utilities Department is one of the largest City departments with over 800 employees, ten divisions, and an annual budget of $850 million to provide water, wastewater, and solid waste management services to over 1.4 million residents in central Oklahoma.  Under the leadership of the Utilities Director, the new Utilities Assistant Director will manage five large operational divisions: Water Quality, Wastewater Quality, Line Maintenance, Southeast Water Supply, and Solid Waste Management.  

Candidates shall have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.  Master’s degree preferred.  Minimum of ten (10) years of varied and progressively responsible experience in managing large water, wastewater, or utility operations. Candidates shall also have extensive knowledge of the local, state, and federal rules, laws, and regulations governing the utility systems' operations and maintenance.
