For over 14 years, Michael worked in technical, analytical, specialist, executive, and managerial positions for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Prior to moving out of California in 2021, Michael spent his last 7 years at CDCR within Human Resources where he served as a Staff Services Manager I, II, and III responsible for oversight of a variety of Human Resources functions including but not limited to; Civil Service Hiring Process, Specialized/Strategic Recruitment for hard-to-fill classifications (co-created a specialized recruitment unit), New Employee Onboarding (developed, standardized, and implemented for CDCR), Employee Retention, Employee Discipline, Civil Service Examination Process, ECOS Support, Seniority Score Calculation, Classification Specification Revision, Layoffs, and DEI Hiring Practices. He also has expertise in California State government functions such as program re-organization, training, budget, business services, and contracts. Since leaving state service and prior to joining CPS HR Consulting, Michael was able to gain invaluable private sector recruitment experience in both Hospitality and with a Fortune 500 Tech Company which has contributed to his overall knowledge of specialized recruitment strategies.

Louis “Lou” Butera
California Department of General Services has selected Louis “Lou” Butera to assume the role of State Printer. Mr. Louis “Lou” Butera comes to the General Services Agency previously serving as the Vice President of Operations for Direct Marketing Solutions. Mr. Butera is an experienced leader in operations and strategic planning in a variety of business environments with a focused goal to work in a value driven organization, pursue excellence in all aspects of the business, and drive profitable growth that exceeds expectations for senior leadership and stakeholders. He will begin in his role on August 12, 2024.

California Student Aid Commission
Daisy Gonzales
California Student Aid Commission has selected Daisy Gonzales to assume the role of Executive Director. Ms. Gonzales comes to the Commission previously serving as the Deputy Chancellor for California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. Ms. Gonzales is an equity practitioner with over two decades of experience in higher education, and state and federal fiscal policy, including seven years of executive-level leadership in a California state agency. She will begin in her role on July 15, 2024.
