Summit Fire & EMS is in search of a visionary leader to advance their mission as its next Fire Chief. This pivotal role requires a candidate who is dedicated to building upon the departmentโ€™s achievements through forward-thinking strategies and excellence in service delivery.

Key Qualifications:
ยป Leadership and Vision: Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop a diverse team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence. The candidate must be a visionary leader who can articulate and implement a clear direction for the future, moving the department forward with innovative practices and technologies.
ยป Strategic and Operational Efficiency: Committed to strategic planning and policy development, enhancing operational efficiency, and leveraging new technologies in fire service delivery. Must possess advanced knowledge in fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, and disaster response, including proficiency in Incident Command Systems (ICS).
ยป Interpersonal and Collaborative Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, the public, governing bodies, and local labor unions. The candidate must be adept at building partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies to enhance service delivery and community safety.
ยป Community and Staff Development: Strong commitment to community outreach and education, with a focus on creating opportunities for staff development and advancement. Must be a present leader who actively coaches and mentors team members, fostering a supportive and transparent work environment.
ยป Financial and Technological Acumen: Robust understanding of budgeting, financial forecasting, and resource allocation, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency. Skilled in using technology and data-driven decision-making tools used within the organization.
ยป Experience in Wildfire and Urban Interface: Must have experience working with communities in wildfire-prone areas and continuously developing a wildland division to meet the needs of the community and the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI).

The ideal candidate will embody a leadership style that is both visionary and collaborative, ensuring the Fire Chief is a credible, respected leader who maintains calm and decisive adaptability in the face of challenges. This role is designed for someone who is ready to lead by example, enhance the departmentโ€™s operational capabilities, and ensure the future readiness and resilience of the Fire Department while actively engaging and contributing to the community.
